What is mixed signal verification and why you might want a career in it?

Conference: DVCLUB Edinburgh | Mixed Signal Verification
Speaker:

Peter Grove (Renesas) , Graeme Nunn (Cirrus Logic)

Speaker Title: What is mixed signal verification and why you might want a career in it?
Abstract:

Mixed-Signal verification is key in many of today’s SOC’s as they interact with a human in some way. The purpose of this present is to cover the concept of Mixed Signal Verification, and why it is important for chip development in a competitive World. It will give a graduate an insight into verification and the career it offers in the constantly developing discipline. Verification is a skill that software engineers can take in addition to electrical engineers as it will be shown the direction it is heading is more software driven.

Key Points:

  • Analog / Digital Verification
  • Introduction to Mixed Signal Verification
    • Digital-Mixed-Signal / Real-Number-Modelling
    • Analog-Mixed-Signal
  • Software based Verification
Speaker Biography:

Peter has worked in the industry starting back in 2001 when he joined a small company called Wolfson MicroElectronics, where he was project lead for more than 15 production devices. Since then, Peter has only worked at one other company, Nujira, before joining Dialog (now Renesas) at their Edinburgh office.

Graeme joined Cirrus Logic in 2016. He has over 25 years of industrial experience in the development and verification of high-performance mixed-signal integrated circuits. He has a background in developing analog and digital circuits and mixed-signal verification. He has been instrumental in the development of Cirrus's current mixed-signal flows with a focus on mixed-signal testbench components, netlisting flows, and mixed-signal verification techniques to cover all phases of the development process from architectural investigation through to AMS sign-off. He has a passion for exploring new technologies and finding out how to improve the accuracy and efficiency of the chip development process, this includes developing and mentoring a team of talented engineers to ensure Cirrus continues to meet the demands of the world's most demanding customers.
