Speaker Title: Simple yet powerful: Open-source HDL simulation with Cocotb.
Abstract:

With many projects requiring multi-disciplinary cooperation across teams to implement the functionality, it becomes important to integrate firmware and software developers to the FPGA verification process. The use of python as the simulation language greatly lowers the barrier of entry. This approach necessitates high quality of documentation as the ultimate reference to verify against. Indeed, the HDL code should work correctly when used by the drivers and applications without the need to understand the underlying HW architecture and HDL code. And when a defect is uncovered, HDL and firmware developers should refine the requirements and specifications to avoid ambiguity in the interpretation.

Key Points:

  • HDL simulation for FPGA.
  • Cocotb.
  • Free and open-source.
Speaker Biography:
