Presentation Title: | Portable Stimulus Driving Hybrid Virtual Platforms and Emulation Environments |
Abstract: | The use of Virtual Platforms with Emulation in a hybrid mode, is becoming commonplace. As a mechanism to control emulation capacity, as well as provide an early platform for architectural development, early software and testing that drives later verification, this approach is an invaluable practical implementation of the shift left directive. Critical test consistency across this flow is often disrupted given the many forms of testbench applied at different phases.
Portable Stimulus clearly targets this issue, but the application of the new PSS standard to this problem requires additional capability and usage techniques. For example, a realization layer that provides OS-like features, and an abstract configuration mechanism has proven important in these flows. We will discuss practical implementations of this shift left approach and show how PSS augmented with the right capabilities can significantly simplify and accelerate the entire process. |
